3 SIGNIFICANT LIFE CHANGING REALIZATIONS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IN YOUR COLLEGE LIFE.

College is the next step after high school. For others, this is what they have been waiting for. But for me, I was afraid of it. I was afraid of it because it is a whole new world. New friends, new teachers and especially, a different environment.

I am now a student of De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde. I am in my 3rd year and taking up Information Systems. So far, I am really enjoying my college life. I have lots of friends. But there is one thing that really taught me in college about friends; a lot of people can be your friend, but not all of them can be trusted and will be able to help you attain your goals. Some can be just for fun, but there are others who you can really count on even though you are in your lowest point in your life. So choosing the right set of friends is really important. They will be the ones who will help you finish school and better yet, with your dreams.

I can say this confidently because I had friends, who have friends, who let them dwell on the bad side of life. They didn’t care if you were missing classes, all they think about is being happy, without thinking the bad things that might happen. They seem good because they are there to make you happy. But when you reach your low point, are you still sure that those friends of yours are there? So choose wisely.

Another event that made a really big significance in my life is when I chose studies over my other friends who choose to do other unimportant stuff rather than taking their subjects seriously. It was hard at first because they kept on taunting me and forcing me to other stuff than to study. Fortunately, I managed to disregard whatever they were saying and started focusing on my studies. Now, I have 2 friends who I am really thankful for because they push me to study. They always remind me to do my home works and other school stuff. Whenever I don’t understand a lesson, they never fail to help me out and teach me to be able for me to understand it better.

Lastly, an event that made another big significance in my life is the first time I failed a subject. I failed in Algebra. Then and there when I realized that college is truly a serious business. It’s not all fun and games. It is very different from high school. The teachers no longer spoon-feed you. You will be the one who will do everything. I am not saying that the teachers will no longer help; all I’m saying is that the teachers will now treat you as professionals for they are preparing us for the real world that is ahead of us.

Failing Algebra didn’t stop me from accomplishing my dream which to graduate college and have a stable life with my family. This served as a wake-up call for me that I should not take my studies for granted. This will be the key to future. We should truly value education for no one can steal this from us. Riches can be gone in an instant, but being an educated human being; no one can take that from you.

I am really thankful for studying in a school which is known for its excellence. I will not waste what my parents worked hard just to send me to school. I promise them that I will graduate and land an excellent job and to be known in the real world.
