Getting Real: Chapter 14
This first link of this chapter talks about how you, being an application creator, should be flexible. Like the example given by Getting Real, The programmers should also interact with the customers in order to hear them out. It is much better if you yourself hears the customers wants rather than hearing it from someone else. A good example of this is the game “pass the message”. There are times, when at the end, you end up with the wrong message. These things might happen if you will not be the one who will hear out your customers.
The next link talks about how your application should be user-friendly. Getting Real suggests that whenever you will make your own application someday, it should be as simple as possible. Having a simple application is a good thing because it won’t need to have user guides and other stuff like that. The customers will have an easier time using your application.
The next link which is entitled, “Answer Quick”, talks about how fast you should reply to your customers questions and needs. The faster you reply, the happier your customer gets. Getting Real informed us readers that whenever they reply to their customers, they see to it that they will be able to reply within 90 minutes. That makes their customers very happy.
Whenever you reply, you just dont always follow what your customer wishes. The saying “The customer is always right” is not right. When you always follow what your customers like, when you always edit what they do not want, that basically means that your application is not good. Let them learn to love what you created. Give them TOUGH LOVE.
Include forums and chat to your application. This will enable your customers to share ideas with each other and at the same time comment about your application. Their comments will also help you make changes so that your application will turn out much beautiful.
Lastly, Be honest. Getting Real advices us readers and application builders to tell people everything even though it is a bad thing. Let the people know. Whenever your application is down, tell them and just write a note which says that you are sorry for the inconvinience.:D
