Getting Real: Chapter 13
Well, this chapter is suggesting that after making the application, we need to let the world to see! In order to do so, Getting Real told us that we should luanch it Hollywood Stlye. Basically, Hollywood stlye consists of three steps, the Teaser, the Preview and the most important step of all is the Launch. This hollywood style has a lot of advantages. First of all, it would allow the the people to know what you application is. They will be curious after showing them the teaser (Of course, the teaser should be one hell of a work of art. haha!). Another advantage is that, if the application turns out what you don’t want to turn out, at least you have’nt launch the entire application yet. You will still have the time to edit it and show it in the preview stage.
You also have to have your own Powerful Promo Site. With this site, you can be able to spread the word that you made this one awesome application that can help them.
You also have to put up a siteup site wherein the people who are interested in your application can enter their email there. Now, you know how many people wants your application. You can use it for inspiration. For me, If I knew that a lot of people likes my site, I will have this urge to make the site more beautiful so that it will be more appreciated by the people. In that site, you can make a link directing the people on a tutorial site on how you came up with the application. You need to share your knowledge. That’s good karma.:)
Lastly, you gotta have a name that will surely be a blast when it comes to applications. It does not matter if it is long or sounds smart or something. The important thing is that it is easy to remember! Actually, having a weird name is a good idea because at least it gets stuck on peoples’ heads.
Getting Real: Chapter 12
This chapter tells about on how to market your application. Well basically, free giveaways is a good marketing strategy because you will be able to catch the attention of the people. This might not work for some other companies, but rest assured, it will work for some. But the disadvantage of giving giveaways is that, if your application did not click, that will be a big loss for you. Giveaways is a risk, but if it clicked, its worth it.:)
An example of a giveaways is the food industry. The companies’ usually let the people taste their product for free in order to let them know what their product tastes like. What the companies’ do is that the put up a small stand in a place where lots of people pass by and there they will offer their products for free in a bite-size form. It is also known as free taste. It is a good thing because, who does not free taste right? So, anyone who passes by that stand gets to taste whether the product is good or bad. If they like the product, they can buy it there in the stand. Good Marketing Strategy!:D

Getting Real: Chapter 11
Basically, this chapter encourages us to build a software rather than documenting it because it causes confusion for you and the whole team. Rather than documenting it, Getting Real suggests that you should just build it because it might turn out to be a real application. I also believe that if you make a prototype, it will be much easier to see whether the application is good or bad.
But then, I am not saying that documenting something is a bad thing. If you are going to document something, just be sure that it will be a brief one like telling a story. Getting Real advices us readers that whenever we document something about an application, it should be brief in order to not take up so much of your time and will be a benefit for your time.
Getting Real: Chapter 10
After dealing with the Interface, you now start with CODING! Well basically, whenever you code, Getting Real adives us readers that we should make our codes as simple as possible. With simples codes, it is much easier to understand and musch easier to edit it when something goeas wrong with it. While making a simple code, you should see to it that it is also organized. Yes, it is simple but if it is not orgainized, it is just plain crap. The programmmers will still have a hard to understanding the code and fxing it.
Another advantage of having a simple yet organized codes is that, you wil be able to cut down your cost and also cutting your maintenance because having simple yet organized codes can be much easier to fix and not that time consuming.
To be able to make simple codes, you should only add the necessary stuff and disregard the things that just add complexity to it.
Getting Real: Chapter 9
INTERFACE! What people sees. In making an application, you should always start with the interface because this is what people look at. Some people tend to buy stuff if they see it pretty. As for me, I do it as well. hehe. Who the hell wants to buy something that looks like crap right?
I had this project wherein I was told to make a program in C# for a bakery. At first my interface was dull. I showed my program to my friends and they did not appreciate it at all. They thought it was boring. Interface is really important in making an application. After that, that is where the coding comes in.

Getting Real: Chapter 8
Based on this chapter, Getting Real tells us that the key factor in making an application is that you should only have a small team rather than having a big team. Having a small team is better because less problems may occur, like attitude clashes, favoritism, etc..
Before assembling your own team, you should know who to hire. You should hire people with the right skills for the proper job. A better idea is that, you should hire people who can do multiple jobs and good at them. With this kind of idea, you can have a smaller team than having a big one.
Getting Real: Chapter 7
This chapter says that TEAMWORK is a must. This helps building the application into a good one. Some organizations have this stratgey where in there are different departments in making the application. Getting Real believes that it is not a good strategy because it creates a situation where staffers see just their own little world instead of the entire context of the web application. They said that it is much better to not apply this strategy because it is much better to have a back and forth dialogue among teeam members in order to have a more harmonious work.
